NORTH SUMATRA TOURS

North Sumatra is a land of volcanos, high plateaus, waterfalls, lakes, and plantations. The centrepiece of Lake Toba, the gigantic crater lake (1,707 square km) and one of the deepest (450 m) in the world, is locaced in the center of the province. These upland plateaus of the Bukit Barisan Range are homeland to the Batak people, divide into six tribes.

Today surrounded on all sides by pine-covered beaches, steep mountain slopes and cliffs, with Samosir Island sitting right in the middle, Lake Toba has become one of Indonesia's major travel destination. Besides its beauty, this area is also celebrated for its traditional villages, adat houses, and rich Batak culture.

Lush valleys, cascading waterfalls and active volcanoes. The gateway to this exotic region is Medan. A few hours from Medan, under the smoking volcanoes of Sibayak and Sinabung, lies the tranquil hill station of Berastagi. Berastagi is the heart of Karo Batak country. The youngest of the several Batak tribes, the Karo maintain many aspects of traditional life, customs and culture.

DAY 01 : MEDAN ARRIVAL - BAHOROK
Upon arrival at Medan airport, pick up service and then drive direct to Bahorok village. We will need approximately 3 hours drive from the airport. Check in to the hotel and then in the afternoon prepare for hiking uphill to the Orang Utan feeding site. The Orang Utan here has two times of feeding time, in the morning and on the afternoon. Crossing the river of Sei Wampu to reach the rehabilitation gate and then trekking up hill. A soft trekking only. The forest of Bahorok also rich fo birds. After the feeding time, return to hotel and free at leisure. You may enjoy the river nearby the hotel, or just try the local cafe'.
DAY 02 : BAHOROK - BRASTAGI - TOBA LAKE
Early after breakfast, back to Medan and continue to Toba Lake via Karo highland. Karo highland is the "Puncak" area of North Sumatra. You will notice the fresh and cool air, picturesque landscape, vast fruit and vegetables plantation, and more over, Karo Highland is the home of the many kinds of coomercial flowering plant. Adjacent to Berastagi is the oldest traditional house of Karonese which is still exist till the present. Historicallly, the Bataks (Karonese tribe group is included in to Batak) were come from the same anchestor with the Torajan and the Minagkabau. There are a lot of similarity among them. Among the similarity are the three main colors and shape of their building, dressing, facial, and many other daily habit. We will pay the other visit on the way before we reach Toba Lake. The Sipiso - piso waterfall and the Long House of Simalingun Kingdom are on the program. We will overnight on Samosir island to enable us to get more closer to the center of the Batak culture. (B)
DAY 03 : TOBA TOUR
Toba lake touring visiting The Old King of Tomok, the Canibal stone in Ambarita and Sigale - gale dance on Simanindo. King Sidabutar is the last King of the Batak, the remain of the Kingdon still visibel in the shape of sarchopagy, lies under the banyan tree on Tomok. The corpse of the last king was stored in the wooden grave. Batak used to be known as the possesing the most fiercest people on North Sumatra. A crime used to be killed softly and slowly on the judicial yard. Before the crime finally die, he used to be tortured by the head of the clan. As the peak of the torture, the hearth was taking out from the body. Next, we will enjoy the Sigale - gale dance. in this dance performance, you will get a chance to dance together with the dancers. Afternoon return to hotel and free at leisure. You may enjoy the beach of hte lake, cnoeing or else on the lake. (B).
DAY 04 : TOBA LAKE - MEDAN
After breakfast, cruise back to Parapat city and then continue the drive back to Medan via another way, Pematang Siantar. On the way, we will still able to stop on the fertile palm oil, rubber, and cocoa plantation. We will spend approximatley 6 hours including our time to stop on the way. Arrive at the airport and fly back to Jakarta. (B)SERVICE END.
